Northfield Engineering

Following the sale of our container storage and handling business based at Staithes Road and consolidation of our engineering interests onto our Alexandra dock site. WRS purchased Northfield Engineering in February 2006 a locally owned and highly respected company within the industry. The operation has been relocated to the Alexandra dock site, which also includes WRLT (Wide Range Lift Trucks) and the fabrication department, which was IMEL (Initial Metals Engineering formally owned by Andrew Weir Shipping).

The Northfield machine shop has now added the dimension we have been looking for to allow us to enter the local engineering market place with the diverse capabilities from parts being able to be produced in a breakdown situation to manufacturing runs through our CNC department.

We are also building on Northfields core business, which are hydraulic ram repairs. We pride ourselves on our turnaround time on all ram repairs from straight strip and reseal through to the manufacture of new to pattern in the support of the local engineering, plant and maintenance industries.

Within our hydraulic workshop we have the facility to design and build hydraulic cylinders and any relevant components for all uses from agricultural plant to bespoke machinery right to raising stages at events such as the Olympic games Athens 2004 opening ceremony, the Common Wealth Games in Sydney Australia opening ceremony 2005, the Eurovision Song Contest Athens building of the rising stage 2006.
